Are you a foodie who enjoys experimenting with a variety of cuisines? Have you been looking forward to trying Indian food, but don’t know where to start? Look no more! This article contains all the information that you will need to prepare yourself for the most adventurous ride to a world full of flavors.

Following are the 8 must-try Indian foods you might be presented with at an Indian restaurant;

Samosas! Why? It’s a Master Chef favorite! Hint: Chef Gordan mentioned his love for it on Master Chef Australia. It is crunchy on the outside, and inside is the surprise of a perfect blend of flavors, vegetables, and meat.

Tandoori Chicken: If you’re someone who loves Barbeque and can’t wait for the summers, head over to an Indian restaurant and try their Tandoori Chicken.

Butter Chicken: Indian or not, with a juicy, flavorful kick, this one tends to be everyone’s favorite.

Channa Masala: If the foods mentioned above are scaring you away because you’re a vegan, don’t sweat (literally don’t! Indian food can be hot for the palate) Channa Masala is THE dish for the Vegan foodies!

Naan: The Indians like their naans as much as they love nodding and shaking their heads! It is a bread that no household skips eating, and there’s a reason for it. Neutralize your spicy food with a perfectly round naan at the restaurant.

Raita: Much like the Naan, raita is a cooling agent that first-timers will need to order.

If you’re still confused about going to that Indian restaurant you drive by every day, here are a few extra tips (because Indians are generous):

  • Don’t judge a book by its cover. Even if the dish looks unappealing and straight-up gross, trust your instincts and order it. It might be one of the best dishes you try.
  • BABY STEPS! If you’re new to spiced and heated foods, take it slow. Tell the attendant to make your food milder than usual.
  • Don’t be afraid of ordering a dish that is unheard of. There are a gazillion Indian dishes, and no dish is worth the doubts.
